Music

Currently, my musical life revolves around the Kalamazoo-based five-piece original blues-rock outfit, Out of Favor Boys. The band’s been together since 2003, has recorded and released four CDs (two EP-length, two full-length) and one double-live CD.

Before that, I was in a band in Chicago with singer/songwriter Sherrie Adams. In addition to Sherrie’s originals, we did covers from the likes of Puddle of Mudd, STP and Foo Fighters. We may have done a Def Leppard song as well…some of it’s a bit of a blur.

The first band I was really in was when I lived in Metro Detroit in the very late 90s. I was in a band called Third Season with Autumn Kerr, Scott Dailey and Ray Osborne. Somewhere between “young country” and classic rock, we did Autumn’s original songs and covers of Fleetwood Mac, Natalie Merchant and Melissa Etheridge.

I can’t remember how I found him, but I played several shows with a guy called Lou Rye in the late 1990s. Maybe we were in the Waterford, Michigan area? He was really a three-piece band, but brought me in to play fills and solos. It was pretty easy for me…and fun.
